Scope of this project was the construction of the multipurpose building and of the registration office for the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sardo.
The project is the third of several contract packages foreseen  from the IZS to enlarge and renovate their headquarters  in Sassari.
The site area is governed by a landscape restriction and is adjacent to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Sassary.
The IZS is a public entity whose main activities  are research in Veterinary,  check-up of animals health and of food from animal origin.
The idea of the project had therefore to make the concerned activities easily integrating to the general network of services provided by the IZS.
Two elevated levels, one underground level and a partially underground level configure the multipurpose building’s elevations.
The footprint of the multipurpose building follows the triangular shape of the plot, with a central patio to provide natural lighting and create pleasant views for the end users.
The first floor is shifted from the ground one, in order to provide shadow zones and dynamism to the building.
The registration office is developed to emphasize the entrance of the complex, and to clearly divide the public area from the private spaces.
The roof, which is supported by steel posts, is characterized by brize-soleil and integrated photovoltaic panels, providing an interesting effect of lights and shadows.
